COVID-19

  • Limited hours: Saturday 10am-2pm is the ONLY time NPTL will be open for a while.
  • Checkouts by reservation & appointment only (see instructions below). Right now, we’re only opening 10 checkout appointments per hour – that’s just 24 per week! Hopefully we can do more soon.
  • Tools that were checked out before we closed out are not due until August 1, so you don’t have to rush to bring your tools back yet. If you need further extensions due to COVID19, please contact us.

COVID-19 Precautions

  • Tool checkouts are by reservation and appointment only.
  • Wear a face covering.
  • Maintain a minimum 6′ distance from everyone around you – staff, volunteers, and other patrons.
  • Send only one member of your household unless you expect to need help carrying tools.
  • PLEASE enter by the side gate on Schofield St. and leave by the side gate on Brandon St.
  • If you have symptoms, or have been exposed to someone who does, stay home.

For disinfection purposes, we will leave all tools in the annex for at least a week after they are returned.

How to Return Tools During a Pandemic

  1. Bring your tools to the tool library during open hours (Saturdays 10am – 2pm)
  2. Enter through the gate on Schofield St. (where you normally enter for the tool library)
  3. If there’s a line, wait at least six feet behind the person ahead of you.
  4. When you get to the courtyard, tell the volunteer on duty your member number or last name.
  5. Show the volunteer the tools you’re checking in.
  6. Once the volunteer tells you that your tools are checked in, drop them off inside the annex.
  7. Exit through the gate on Brandon St. You’re done!

How to Borrow Tools During a Pandemic

Reserve your tools online

  1. If you haven’t already, set up your password for the online system.
  2. Visit nptl.myturn.com and log in.
  3. Reserve up to 8 tools. You’ll be asked to choose a date and timeslot – pick the upcoming Saturday; we’re only allowing reservations for one week at a time right now.
  4. When you’ve picked your tools, make sure to click ” -> Cart ” at the top of the page, then click “Submit Reservation” at the bottom.
  5. You’ll get an email with your reservation details.

Pick up your tools during your scheduled timeslot

  1. Come to the tool library during your scheduled timeslot.
  2. Enter through the gate on Schofield St. (where you normally enter for the tool library)
  3. If there’s a line, wait at least six feet behind the person ahead of you.
  4. When you get to the courtyard, tell the volunteer on duty your member number or last name.
  5. Find your tools – they’ll be grouped together in the courtyard with your name and member number on them. Confirm the tools you’re getting with the volunteer on duty.
  6. When the volunteer confirms that they’ve checked the tools out to you, you can take them and exit through the gate on Brandon St.
  7. Your tools will be due one week from the day they’re checked out.
